safe, healthy, nurtured, happy – always, everywhere, with everyone

Safe

All children, teens and families should be safe and feel safe, with other family members, carers, teachers, friends, peers, colleagues and strangers, at home, in their communities and beyond, all the time.

Healthy

Everyone should have the opportunity for a healthy start from birth, throughout childhood, adolescence and into adulthood, for ongoing good health, and for affordable and accessible treatments, products and services.

Nurtured

Information and support should be available from the start for planning and caring for children, and developing and nurturing each individual as they grow to become independent young adults.

Happy

Children, teens and families should have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of activities at home and in their communities, freedom to use their imaginations, encouragement to develop their own activities, a variety of products and experiences to suit all budgets, and time to celebrate events.

Returning in 2025

I will be so excited to be bringing you an updated and improved Children’s Guide.

Much of what was set up whilst working from our office on beautiful, inspiring and fascinating Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour during 2020 and 2021, was suddenly met with limitations as the world locked down, leaving much of this site irrelevant for a while.

Now relocated to an idyllic regional location, I can’t wait to progress and grow Children’s Guide into the community-focused resource it was always intended to be.

Latest events

Village Beat

The small Children’s Guide Calendar has been reimagined as a standalone new website and will still include all the types of family events listed previously as well as new events across festivals, arts, theatre, live music and more.

This will be live for the South Coast of NSW in coming weeks and may expand to other areas. Pop over and explore the vibrant community along the coast.

Acknowledgement of Country

In the spirit of reconciliation Children's Guide acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
